DescriptionAfter a linocut, 1932. This has all the characteristics of the Grosvenor School. Flight, the principle linocut tutor at the Grosvenor School of Art, encouraged a depiction of movement as generated by the machine age. But many of his pupils chose to concentrate on the movements of the human body. In this print William Greengrass manages to capture in repeated geometry the movement of arms and torsos, and the very grass and air above and below the hurdlers seems to vibrate with rhythmic energy.
